I made a little zipper pouch today. It's nothing fantastic, but it's functional. Just the perfect size for 2 diapers and a little package of wipes. The only major mistake I made, is that I sewed the back of it on upside down, so the girls are wrong side up on that side. Oh well. It was kind of a practice run anyways, so I didn't bother to rip it out and fix it. Tomorrow, I'll be making a matching bag, so stay tuned...

Well, I'm going to be taking a bit of a break from my sewing adventures. Ray comes home tomorrow, so today and tomorrow morning will be spent spiffing up the house. Once he gets here, we plan to have lot of quality family time. I probably won't be able to sew again until next week. And then, the adventures will begin again!

I was going through Megan's drawers a few days ago, and sorting out the things that didn't fit anymore. She was left with literally 3 shirts when I was done. Obviously that isn't enough. So I decided to cut up some old pajamas of mine that are too big now. I ended up making a shirt and a skirt. I really like how the shirt turned out, so I will probably be digging through my closet to see what else doesn't fit so I can make her more. I like that I was able to make it long enough to cover her belly. She is SO long waisted that it's difficult to find shirts that fit properly.

Hot off the sewing machine...shorts for the boys! We went to Wal-mart this morning, and I let them pick out their own fabric. AJ picked Spiderman, and Drew picked trains. These were such an easy sew, that I really should make more of them.
The boys did NOT want to stand nicely for the pictures, so please excuse their silly faces.

Today I took an old, men's shirt, and made it into a cute little shirt for Megan. This was super easy, and didn't take long at all. I have a few adjustments to make (the back hem being the biggest), but she was losing patience with the whole thing, so I'm just posting it "as is" for now. Oh, and I have plenty of scraps leftover, so she will be getting some matching shorts or something one of these days.

I made this purse a few days ago with the intention of giving it to a friend of mine as a graduation gift. But it turned out to be a strange shape, so now I'm not sure about it. Actually, I think I've pretty much decided to make her a different one. I got a scrap of really pretty fabric the other day, and will probably use that....

I'm in love with this little sundress. It caused me some problems, but I love it just the same. First of all, I'm in love with the fabric. I got it for less than a dollar a yard at the closing sale for our local Hancock Fabrics store. The lady thought it would make the perfect pillowcase. I thought it would make the perfect dress. LOL
This was my first time using elastic thread. I adore the result, but it took me TWO HOURS to get the tension right in my bobbin again. So I'm not sure how soon I'll be using that stuff again.
Anyhow, it's just a big rectangle with 7 rows of shirring at the top. Sewn into a tube, hemmed, and ribbons added for straps. Simple and adorable.
Lots of pics today because Megan was being super cute.

Well, I finished fixing the mumu today. I took about 4 inches off of the length, and added buttons to the back. Then I made some capris (I- have no clue how that is spelled) with a matching ruffle on the bottom. They were actually supposed to be shorts, but even after cutting off several inches from the bottom of them, they were still too long, so I just left them that way.
The entire outfit is definitely too big. Big enough that she'll probably still fit into it next summer.

Since I know that so many of you are waiting with baited breath to see what I'm going to do with the mumu, I thought I'd post a little update. I didn't scrap it. I cut about 3 or 4 inches off of the bottom of it, and hemmed it up and put buttons on the back. I have a little piece of denim, and am going to make her some shorts to match. Pictures will be posted when it's all done....
Stay tuned....

I had really high hopes for this dress. The picture on the pattern was just adorable. 3 little pleats in the front to give it a sweet look...a contrasting neckline...rick-rack...buttons down the back. I mean, how could this dress NOT turn out adorable? Well, apparently I figured out a way to make it hideous.
