I made two little crayon rolls today for a swap I'm involved in on Craftster. These were super cheap to make. I used fabric and ribbon from my stash. The crayons were on sale for 20 cents, and the felt was 12 cents. So it cost me just 32 cents for both crayon rolls! I think they are pretty cute, and hope the kids they are for like them as well.
 
Monday, July 30. 2007It's all about the business
This week, I'm enduring an incredibly informative class on the Deployment and Administration of Microsoft SharePoint. I must say, out of all the IT classes I've sat through, this has by far the most potential for teaching me new things. (In other words, I've been lost from the minute I sat down.) Our instructor has an unparalleled zeal for his material (probably because he actually wrote it). He's excited to teach and really believes in what he's doing. But it's all about the business.

I don't know if this really deserves its own category or not, but I wanted to write about a few of the things I've learned from my dad (and mom too). First up...
The Spoon I taught myself that little boys need to be spanked. We need our wills broken. We need strong authority to set us straight. We need consequences. But we do not need abuse. And there is a super-fine line between the two. I think modern society has swung the pendulum way too far the other direction, but it is easy to "hit" our children instead of disciplining them.  I'm making AJ a small quilt for school. His supply list calls for a "small blanket" for naptime, so I decided that it must be homemade. AJ loves space stuff, so that's the theme of his quilt. It's nothing fancy or difficult, but he loves it so far. I finished the quilt top this afternoon. It will be bordered in blue fabric with stars, and the backing is a lightweight flannel with planets and aliens on it (will have a closeup of that fabric later). I have just over a week to complete it, but am hoping to have it done by this weekend. We'll see. For now, here's the top. The colors in this picture aren't true. The orange isn't so pink in real life, and the light color is off-white with white stars. |
