At one point, Laura was asleep and I was struggling to stay on the road. The night was very cloudy but for a few minutes we had just enough rain to get everything slippery. That wouldn't have been that much of a problem if it hadn't been right when I was trying to drive through the curviest, deadliest, highest, blackest, narrowest part of the mountains. I couldn't see a thing. Visibility was maybe 30 feet because of the curves. I was completely surrounded by darkness... mountains all around and black clouds above. I couldn't see a thing. I seriously felt completely lost. I never knew whether the road was going to take a sharp curve to the left or right. I just knew it curved because I couldn't see any more road ahead of me.

Whatever we do, we will not drive that section of the trip in the dead of night ever again! Colorado was meant to be flown over.

Oh and one more thing. It's August. It shouldn't be 50 degrees outside. Period. So Colorado, you might want to get your thermostat (or Calendar) checked. I think it's broken.
