The trip got delayed a few hours because of the heat (who wants to sit outside in 115 degree weather?). So after supper, I took the kids to Sonic (the 105 degree heat was definitely less oppressive...yeah right). They were so excited, and their eyes about bugged out when they saw the floats.

There was a lady and her adult son waiting outside for their food. She was chatty, and asked who was having a birthday. I told her that nobody was...it was just a treat. I explained about the fundraiser, and told her that this was the compromise. A few minutes later, she handed me $40 and told me to use it for the next "incentive". I couldn't believe it. I wasn't asking for money, and I wasn't trying to give her a sob story. She didn't even know what school it was for or anything.

So AJ has officially reached his goal of $50. Of course, there are more incentives on his field trip for the more money he raises, but the important number was $50. I'm kind of in shock about the whole thing. I mean, $40 is a lot of money!
